My professional journey has been defined by excelling in distinct, demanding fields: the structured problem-solving of military service, the high-stakes precision of senior IT roles, and the entrepreneurial mastery of running a custom carpentry business for nearly two decades. While diverse, these experiences were unified by a demand for elite analytical rigor—whether as the highest escalation point for complex Tier 3 incidents, architecting high-availability data centers, or directing every business facet of complex physical builds from inception to delivery.
It was through navigating these varied challenges—from earning an "Exceptional" review awarded to the top 1-3% of the company at TD Bank to mastering the financial and project management of a skilled trade that I honed a distinct cognitive approach. This isn't about claiming universal expertise, but rather a capacity for deep pattern recognition, cross-disciplinary analysis, and unconventional problem-solving. It's the perspective to view any complex system – digital, physical, organizational, or financial – through multiple lenses simultaneously, revealing underlying connections and effective pathways forward that might otherwise remain hidden.
This perspective is best suited for individuals or organizations facing complex, multi-faceted challenges where traditional specialized expertise has reached its limits. If you're grappling with:
Intractable systemic or architectural flaws that your current specialists have been unable to resolve.
High-stakes projects where executive-level business objectives must be translated into flawless technical architecture.
Complex challenges that sit at the intersection of multiple domains (e.g., finance, risk, engineering, and IT).
The need for innovative solutions that bridge complex digital systems with physical engineering or fabrication.
...then a polymath perspective may offer the breakthrough you need.
My background allows me to think differently, applying a framework built on:
This cross-domain approach has proven effective in resolving challenges that defied conventional solutions:
My role in treasury operations involved translating complex business requirements into high-stakes Business Intelligence solutions. I designed, built, and managed the reporting infrastructure for executive leadership, developing the SSRS-based BI tools featured directly in key financial statements (EVAR/EAR and NIIS). This required end-to-end mastery, from designing complex ETL stored procedures to managing the entire reporting process for over five departments using a stack of SSRS, SSAS, PowerPivot, Tableau, .NET, and C#.
I implemented and tested mission-critical disaster recovery and business continuity strategies. This was a full-stack engineering challenge, starting with building and optimizing systems on HP, DELL, and IBM hardware. I managed the entire data replication pipeline, from implementing Fibre Channel networking (Cisco MDS 9000 Series) to establishing a robust asynchronous SAN-to-SAN disaster recovery solution using Hitachi tools like TrueCopy. This entire solution was secured by developing and enforced CheckPoint EndPoint firewall policies and deploying Tripwire Enterprise for continuous monitoring of UNIX and Windows systems.
Achieving perfect 100-100-100-100 Lighthouse scores across an 80-page site(HannaCarpentry) is not a vanity metric—it is an engineering benchmark that few can claim. It's a result that dedicated, multi-specialty teams at digital agencies often fail to reproduce, as it cannot be accomplished with common frameworks or siloed workflows. This elite performance was not bolted on; it was architected from the ground up. It required applying the analytical rigor of high-stakes IT to every layer: from hand-crafting custom JavaScript and inlining hyper-optimized CSS to eliminate bloat, to the bare-metal deployment on a dedicated Linux VPS with a custom-tuned NGINX server. This is a full-stack, from-the-metal-up synthesis that delivers a level of performance that siloed teams struggle to even diagnose, let alone replicate.
True systems thinking is platform-agnostic. As a senior subject-matter expert, I held end-to-end responsibility for a complex and diverse technology landscape. This required deep, concurrent expertise across Windows Server, UNIX, Linux (SLES, RHEL,Unbuntu OpenSUSE,Debian), and Novell OES, all running on deidcated harware and VMware ESX virtualization. This extended to the data layer, where I administered both Microsoft SQL Server and IBM DB2 databases, ensuring stability and performance across completely distinct architectures.
"The specific field often doesn't matter; the underlying structure of the problem and the system it exists within does."
"Complex problems rarely have simple answers within a single field. I delve deeper, applying cross-domain analysis to uncover the fundamental structure and address the true root cause."
I apply this unique analytical framework through focused consultations, project-based engagements, or strategic advisory roles. My focus is not on day-to-day support, but on solving high-stakes, architectural-level challenges. This includes diagnosing intractable systemic flaws, architecting complex digital or physical integrations, and bridging the critical gap between executive-level business objectives and flawless technical execution. While my background spans finance, government, and skilled trades, the core problem-solving methodology is industry-agnostic and extremely asymmetric.
